Brent was born and raised in Brevard, North Carolina, where he graduated from Brevard High School. While attending high school, he played baseball and participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a graduate of Columbia International University, where he majored in Bible and Youth Ministry. Brent earned a Master’s in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary. Brent served as a Student Pastor in Brevard for seventeen years. As a student pastor, Brent served as the Brevard High School Football Chaplain.

Brent’s wife Amanda grew up in Brevard, North Carolina, and graduated from Brevard High School. Amanda is a graduate of Columbia International University, where she majored in Bible and Youth Ministry.

Brent and Amanda have two daughters. They attend Rosman Middle and High school in Transylvania County. Marley Ruth is fifteen years old and enjoys playing softball and running cross country. Farrah Blake is thirteen years old and enjoys playing softball and art.

Together the Metcalf family enjoys finding new waterfalls and trails to hike.
